chic connell - Contemporary Artist 

a contemporary, self-taught painter and current art director, from birmingham, alabama. learned to work with raw materials and everyday objects from a young age. combining a love of old masters, 80's neo-expressionist painters and the continual visual decay of an old south. working on large scale paintings, assemblage pieces, using mostly figurative subject to communicate a language that in the end contradicts with the initial subject matter. has been featured in solo shows across the united states. is currently a part of permanent collections at the ogden museum in new orleans, pensicola museum of art, as well as several private and corporate collections. paintings for the ogden and pensicola museum of art were donated by dr. robert ryan, a long time collector, friend and mentor. connell has worked on projects and collaborations for reebok international, donna karan, anna sui and the nba. currently works in nashville and dallas.
